These purple tip needles by Janome effectively prevent skipped stitches when sewing and embroidering on heavy fabrics, including knits, quilting multiple layers, and also for sewing across the hem. They have a ball point tip that prevents fabric thread breakage and a special "cobra" head that reduces fluctuation of fabric that causes skipped stitches.
